OUTFILE=$(printf %s-%s_%s.mp3 $DISK $TRACK $TITLE) # now change to temp dir and bulk-rip to wav files # create a temp working directory - probably on local machine (less net traffic) # assumed final mp3s will be stored in the current directory Then I use something like mp3tag to renumber, rename, and tag all the files. It's not elegant but it works pretty well. I save this as a command called ripcd in my local bin directory. You go to the directory you want it to leave the files and do something like ripcd greatest_book_ever 1 and this will generate a list of files like: 01-01-greatest_book_ever.mp3 I have multiple machines, so this particular version of my script works well by having each machine extract locally, then write the mp3s to the destination folder (where it's run from). Thanks for any help, hoping for some suggestions here.įor what it's worth, for the things I can only get on CD, I use this BASH script (I use Linux) to rip cds into mp3s. I just want a simple MP3 file to put on a flashdrive.Īre there any decent digital storefronts that offer this? Price is not a concern, my concern is getting a quality MP3 file that I can own and use the way I want to. No I will not just use an app as that has no practicality for me so please don't suggest that and I don't want the poor audio quality shooting out of a phone, nor to plug it into my car speakers, etc. I want to PAY MONEY (crazy thought I know) and get a digital copy that I can throw on a flashdrive for listening to in the car.

I'm not really interested in the freebie sites like Librivox and I don't want piles of CD sets that I have to copy. Tons of content I want to buy but no one will sell it to me without chaining it to a stupid app and my phone. Local library has limited selection that we are already blazing through and I am at my wits end with the digital offerings. New to reddit and new to audiobooks, but my little guy picked one up at our church library a couple weeks ago and loved it.
